The Happy School, an establishment dedicated to the education of underprivileged children, was established in 1998 through the initiative of a socially concerned individual, Ms. Kamal Capoor, who at the start began teaching children in the very lawns of her residence in DLF City, Gurgaon. The main motive of the school is to provide education to underprivileged children.
The school started in a small way in the private lawns of its founder and comprised 4-5 students. As the school progressed and the number of students increased, it drew significant attention from all sections of the society including the Haryana Child Welfare Department, which provided the school with a much deserved premises in June 2006.
The school presently educates about 400 students up to VIII grade of Haryana Board Exams. The school focuses not only on academics but also in personality development through various activities like music and dance, sports (outdoor and indoor), drama and debate.
All students who recently appeared for Class VIII exams passed with good scores. The school has recently started typing and computer classes for the children and vocational training sessions such as painting, art work, sewing and cooking.
