Know-edge Nutrition seminars in South India

        

Avitech Nutrition Pvt. Ltd., a leading animal nutrition company organized a technical seminar on 18th and 20th March , 2009 at Hotel Grand Sindhu in Mahabubnagar, A.P and at Hotel President in Mysore. This was the fifth seminar in the 'Know-edge Nutrition' series for commercial layer farmers. A large number of progressive layer farmers and consultants attended the seminar.

The 'Know-edge Nutrition Seminar' began with a welcome address by Dr Balaji Chate, Regional Sales Manager, in Mahabubnagar and by Mr. B.M.Venkatesh Area Sales Manager, in Mysore. Mr.M.V.Koushik, General Manager, Marketing, spoke next describing the activities of Avitech. Mr.Koushik outlined the various initiatives taken by the company towards increasing awareness about nutrition amongst the layer farming community.

Both the seminars witnessed the participation of highly qualified doctors and nutritionists.
In Mahabubnagar, Dr. V. Ramsubba Reddy GM-Nutrition, Avitech, delivered an informative speech, talking about the 'Rising Feed Cost: Coping with the Challenge'. Dr.Reddy highlighted the increasing cost of ingredients as a major threat to the industry. Further ahead, Dr.Reddy discussed various remedial measures (nutritional and non-nutritional) to deal with the rising costs. In his speech, Dr. Reddy emphasized on rodent menace, wherein he cited that a couple of rat can bring losses worth 100,000Rs per annum in a 10 lakh bird flock. Apart from that he emphasized nutritional requirements of birds wherein a farmer can save lot on excess nutrients. Dr. Reddy opined that farmers usually use higher levels of phosphorous and amino acids then what is required. Dr. Reddy also talked about the significance of feed additives such as enzymes and emulsifiers in controlling the feed cost and emphasized the importance of maintaining adequate Phosphorous and Amino Acid levels in feed.

Dr. Chandrasekaran ( Consultant- Poultry Nutrition) was the keynote speaker in Mysore. He gave an impressive and informative lecture on “Chick and Grower Nutrition for Improved Layer Productivity.” Dr. Chandrasekaran emphasized achieving standard body weights at the point of lay. The second to fourth week of chick life is very important since several vaccinations are carried out especially coryza vaccine, which depresses body weight. He opined it is very pertinent to use all measures which will improve the feed intake as well as optimize digestion and absorption of nutrients at higher plane. Acieving target body weight is a parameter to high productivity emphasized Dr. Chandrasekaran.

At both the places Dr. Harish Dharne (Technical Manager- Avitech) in his interaction with the audiences explained the use of two important technologies developed by Avitech, MetazymeL and LP (multi-enzyme formulations specially designed for layer diets) and Lipidin (Emulsifier and Nutrient absorption enhancer). In his key note address, supported by a technical presentation and with the help of a few practical examples, he demonstrated how to reduce the feed cost without compromising on the production performances. He demonstrated the synergy between Lipidin and Metazyme and concluded that both the technologies if used concurrently can reduce the nutrient levels BY 6% without affecting performance.

The 'Know-edge Nutrition Seminar' concluded with the vote of thanks extended by Mr. G Venu Babu, District Manager, at Mahabubnagar and Mr. N.S.Pradeep Kumar, Regional Sales Manager, at Mysore. The seminar provided a great platform, bringing to light the varied initiatives being taken by Avitech, towards increasing awareness about nutrition amongst the layer farming community.
